About Us

Na Praia is a hotel perfectly in tune with its home. One that doesn’t hinder its habitat – the quiet of the dunes, the rich scents of juniper and thyme, the natural ecosystem full of hidden life – but treats it with respect.
To be here is to experience the Atlântico in its purest form, otherworldly and invigorating, where season to season the glinting ocean laps the headland, birds circle above and native wildlife shelters in the shrubs.

The story began in 2011. When Portuguese hotelier José António Uva first stepped through this stretch of raw coastal beauty, a vision took form. Together with Studio KO, Doxiadis+, and his own Estúdio Lisboa, he set out to create a place of calm that preserves and pays tribute to the landscape. A hotel where life is informed by the gentle rhythm of the ocean, and where there is time and space for connection.

Much like the ancient dunes it stands on, shaping Na Praia has required patience and care. Our team has spent a decade living with the landscape to understand its ecosystem, and a lifetime immersed in the culture and history of Portugal.
Over time, the path forward – and the right collaborators – emerged. Slowly, thoughtfully, a vision became real.

The result is architecture shaped by the spirit of the dunes, designed to prioritise what’s essential over excess, to represent the land, the locale and its people.
An approach that puts conservation and custodianship first – buildings carefully placed to avoid disrupting the natural topography, native seeds saved for future generations, a way of creating directed by what is already here.
A place where absence becomes presence.
